About Us

Travel Essentials is a family-owned retailer specializing in top-quality luggage, travel clothing, and travel accessories. We’ve been in business since 1994 in downtown Ashland, Oregon, home of the internationally renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

We pride ourselves on our firsthand knowledge of all things travel. We’ve traveled extensively, and are always happy to share our travel insights with our customers. Our staff’s understanding of luggage and clothing materials, design, and manufacturing techniques sets us apart from the rest of the retail luggage industry. We routinely speak to the designers of various luggage and clothing manufacturers to give advice, learn the ropes, and forward the needs of our customers.

We also pride ourselves on providing the best customer service in our retail store and on the Internet. We offer a "YES!" Guarantee on everything we sell—if you are unhappy with any of our products, at any time for any reason, we will gladly accept your return—and we strive in everything we do to ensure your satisfaction with your shopping experience with us.

Thanks for visiting our site and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or comments.

and the Travel Essentials Team

Meet the Travel Essentials Staff...

Danny
Danny, manager of Travel Essentials, has left home on many occasions with wife, Mara. These high school sweethearts have seen Ireland, Wales, England, France, Spain, The Netherlands, and Mexico. After completing collegiate studies (BFA in Illustration from Pacific Northwest College of Art) he’s back for a second tour at 252 E Main. Most evenings you’ll find him in the backyard with the grill, Mara tending the garden, and their daughter Lillian, in a sprinkler. Learn more about Danny.
Logan
Logan was born in Sonoma County, California. While living there she would regularly visit the coast with her family and has a deep love for the ocean. Growing up near so many vineyards and driving distance from San Francisco fostered Logan's admiration of culture and diversity. She went on to get a degree in Anthropology from SOU. While getting her degree, she travelled to Spain and helped excavate Roman remains in Menorca. Her most recent adventure was in the UK, Ireland, and Paris for 6 weeks in the Spring of 2017.
Bob & Nancy
Bob and Nancy’s journey to opening a travel store began with their honeymoon in 1993, when they traveled cross-country for five months in a VW bus. After a visit to Ashland, Oregon, they decided to leave the Bay Area, plant a little garden and build themselves a home—or in this case a travel store. They’ve been fortunate to travel extensively with their two daughters, and look forward to more solo travels as their nest starts emptying.
Hannah
Hannah, originally from the Seattle area, is studying theatre arts at Southern Oregon University. In addition to growing up camping on the west coast, she has traveled all over the United States and visited family in Scandinavia. Hannah loves hiking, snorkeling and taking long naps on the beach. She is always eager for new adventures!
Emily
Emily is a recent graduate of Oregon State University, and has just moved to Seattle to work in the tech industry. Emily grew up traveling with her family, and just completed an 11 week trip around the United States in a van with her bestie. Emily continues to fill in at Travel Essentials whenever her parents can get her!
Sarah
Born and raised in Ashland, Oregon, Sarah recently graduated with a Math degree from Oregon State University, and is now studying for her Masters in Teaching at Portland State. Sarah thankfully continues to work at Travel Essentials on breaks and holidays. She has been lucky enough to travel to more than 15 countries with her family. One time (for about a minute) Sarah swam with tiger sharks off the coast of Belize.
Daria
Daria happily returns to Ashland after an 11 year haitus to Portland and then Sonoma County, where she is originally from. She moved to the Rogue Valley at age 19, met a boy, fell in love, stayed to pursue an acting degree at SOU, and court said boy. Now; after marriage, experiencing the Portland craft brewery scene, serving in a dive bar in Bodega, California (the location of Hitchcock’s The Birds), Daria is back in action at Travel Essentials. Daria is passionate about her travels to Mexico and looks forward to assisting you with preparations for your next adventure.
Molly
Molly is from Salem, Oregon, but also considers herself a San Francisco local that lives away. She moved to Ashland to study Forensic Chemistry at Southern Oregon University, and has since fallen in love with the town. When not working, rowing or studying, she is often found road tripping the Western states to find the next best hike and mountain to climb!
