About Us

Travel Essentials is a family-owned retailer specializing in top-quality luggage, travel clothing, and travel accessories. We’ve been in business since 1994 in downtown Ashland, Oregon, home of the internationally renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

We pride ourselves on our firsthand knowledge of all things travel. We’ve traveled extensively, and are always happy to share our travel insights with our customers. Our staff’s understanding of luggage and clothing materials, design, and manufacturing techniques sets us apart from the rest of the retail luggage industry. We routinely speak to the designers of various luggage and clothing manufacturers to give advice, learn the ropes, and forward the needs of our customers.

We also pride ourselves on providing the best customer service in our retail store and on the Internet. We offer a "YES!" Guarantee on everything we sell—if you are unhappy with any of our products, at any time for any reason, we will gladly accept your return—and we strive in everything we do to ensure your satisfaction with your shopping experience with us.

Thanks for visiting our site and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or comments.

Meet the Travel Essentials Staff...

Danny
Danny has left home on many occasions with wife, Mara. These high school sweethearts have seen Ireland, Wales, England, France, Spain, The Netherlands, and Mexico. After completing collegiate studies (BFA in Illustration from Pacific Northwest College of Art) he’s back for a second tour at 252 E Main. Most evenings you’ll find him in the backyard with the grill, Mara tending the garden, and their daughter Lillian, in a sprinkler. Learn more about Danny.
Ember
Ember graduated from SOU with a degree in English and a French minor. She studied abroad in France in college, also visiting Sweden, Belgium, England and the Netherlands while she was there. She loves languages, international cuisine and spending time in the great outdoors with her daughter, Ellie. Her favorite part of working in a travel store is learning the best places to travel by listening to people's stories. Read more about Ember.
Sabrina
Born in Kona, Hawaii, Sabrina was raised in an oasis of nature and cultural traditions, which sparked her passion for the arts and travel. She has traveled to Mexico, Southern France, Barcelona, through Japan and Italy. She moved to Ashland to attend SOU where she has since fallen in love with the area and graduated with a degree in Printmaking. She spends her days creating art, gardening, canning and making bread. Learn more about Sabrina.
Emily
Emily is a Senior at Oregon State University, double majoring in business management and business information systems. She continues to work at Travel Essentials on holiday breaks and in the summers. She has been fortunate to travel with her family on many adventures growing up. One of her favorite travel memories was riding an elephant in Thailand.
Bob & Nancy
Bob and Nancy’s journey to opening a travel store began with their honeymoon in 1993, when they traveled cross-country for five months in a VW bus. After a visit to Ashland, Oregon, they decided to leave the Bay Area, plant a little garden and build themselves a home—or in this case a travel store. They’ve been fortunate to travel extensively with their two daughters, and look forward to more solo travels as their nest starts emptying.
Sarah
Born and raised in Ashland, Oregon, Sarah is a Sophomore at Oregon State University where she is studying Math and Communications. Sarah will work at Travel Essentials over her breaks and whenever she can. She has been lucky enough to travel to more than 15 countries with her family and hopes to study in a Spanish speaking country while in college. One time (for about a minute) Sarah swam with tiger sharks off the coast of Belize.
Emily
As the daughter of an educator and a canoe builder, Emily was born with a desire to learn and meet adventure head on. With a wide range of interests, she has gone rafting down many rivers, hiked the Great Wall of China and explored caves from Oregon to Arizona. After Emily graduates from SOU with a degree in Sociology and Anthropology she will go on to get her masters in social work with the hopes of traveling the world helping foster children find homes.
