The spiral-bound Michelin Italy Atlas covers the entire country at a scale of 1:300,000 and includes 74 town plans, an index of cities, sights and scenic routes as well as a distance chart. It measures approximately 9 x 12 inches and is about 1/4 inch thick. The 74 town maps are detailed enough for use as walking maps, while the place name index, to the best of our knowledge, lists every single town in Italy. While some may say that atlases of this size are too big for lightweight travel, we would make the case that it is so slim that it easily slips into the front pocket of most luggage pieces.
